| "Pit Bull Puppies" Socializing your puppies and pit bull puppies when they are young is extremely important to raising a dog with a balanced and stable temperament. How many times did you walk into a vet, pet co, or dog park, and see a dog that is completely out of control? Almost 90% of the time, these dogs that you see out of control are dogs that have not been properly socialized when they were puppies. They have absolutely no knowledge of how to behave when around other dogs or people. |
Interaction and socialization with other dogs and even people is extremely important. If your puppy was never around any other dogs from a young age, they will have no idea how they should act around them when they are older. The first step in socializing your puppy, and probably the most important, is getting them vaccinated. At 9 weeks old, your dog needs to start a series of vaccinations. Contact a local vet and get them started as soon as possible. Once your dog has all all of there vaccines (3-4 depending on the breed of the dog) they will be ready to start socializing with other dogs and people. It is important to have your puppy around as many new people and dogs as possible when they are young. The more socializing they have at a young age, they better they will behave at an older age.
Dog parks are a great place to bring your puppies. However, do no bring them to the park until they are fully vaccinated. Don't always stick to the same dog park. The more new dogs and new places your pup will see at a young age, the better! Feel free to bring them to pet stores to meet new people. Most pet stores welcome dogs now a days. You can even take them to puppy classes where they will teach basic obedience training as well as socialize the pups with each other. All are great ways to raising a healthy and well socialized dog. How to train a puppy really depends on what method you want to use.
